Prof. Xu Kuangdi, Vice-Chairman of the 10th National Committee of Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), Chairman of China Federation of Industrial Economics (CFIE) and Honorary Chairman of the Governing Board of China Academy of Engineering (CAE), was conferred “Sino-European Friendship Award” during the 4th Hamburg Summit held in Hamburg from Nov. 25th to Nov. 26th, 2010.
The “Hamburg Summit” is a high-ranking international economic symposium co-hosted by CFIE and the Hamburg Chamber of Commerce in Germany, which has won high attention and significant support from the political and economic sector of both countries. On the Chinese side, Premier Wen Jiabao, Former Vice Premier Zeng Peiyan and Vice Premier Zhang Dejiang have attended the previous three summits. This year, Ma Kai, Secretary General of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China, led a Chinese government delegation to the summit and delivered a keynote speech.
The “Sino-European Award” is specially established by the Hamburg Summit to honor international personages with outstanding commitment to the Sino-European relationship. Among the previous recipients of the award are Helmut Schmidt, former Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany and Michel Rocard, former Prime Minister of France.
Dr. Michael Schaefer, Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to the People's Republic of China made a laudation in honour of Prof. Xu’s phenomenal contribution to Sino-European friendship and conferred him the “Sino-European Friendship Award”.
